Ship Request System

The application may be unavailable from 22:45pm to 08:00am AST Monday to Friday and from 22:45pm Friday until 08:00am Monday

Requests for time allocations on Atlantic Zone Science Platforms are normally only accepted from DFO, NRCan oceanographic scientists and members of the university research community who have appropriate funding approval from NSERC or some other agency. Browser Note

This application requires Internet Explorer v7 or higher, and a Java Runtime Environment version 6 (JRE6) or higher. Using JRE 7 and JRE8 requires an environment variable named JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS with a value of -Djava.vendor="Sun Microsystems Inc."

FireFox version 51 and lower, in general, has shown inconsistent test results. Version 51 and higher does not work

Google Chrome version 42 and higher, does not work.

Getting Started

Before you can apply for ship time you must Register yourself and obtain a user name and password. Applications are restricted to DFO and NRCan scientists and members of the Canadian research community who have a legitimate requirement for platform time.You can request an account with the Register button at the top of the page. You will be emailed with your user name / password.

The application to enter a request requires the Java Runtime Environment is installed on your machine that will allow you to run the application as an applet.

Note that Internet Explorer and 3rd party browser toolbars may have a pop-up blocker that will block the application window. You may have to adjust your pop-up blocker settings for this site.


You must register and receive approval before you can use the ship time request system. Please include the following information in your e-mail registration request:

  • Your full name
  • Affiliation
  • Preferred user name
  • Password

You will receive notification of approval via e-mail. You may then enter new ship time requests or edit previous entries at any time until August 30, 2019.
